Live from the historic MATI gallery next to the Wasilla International Airport, the Valley Arts Alliance premier of Alaska Home Companion—A Frontier Variety Show!
MATI is our favorite Museum of Alaska Transportation and Industry, and the Alaska Home Companion—A Frontier Variety Show is the Valley Arts Alliance rendition of a live radio broadcast from the golden age of Alaskan radio, with skits, music, and dance acts, similar to the popular Prairie Home Companion radio show on NPR featuring Garrison Keillor.
Alaska Home Companion featured interesting stories by Alaskans about the best, the worst, and the silliest of everyday living in Alaska.
Featured guests introduced by Randi Perlman were Todd Broste, David Cheezem, Kim Fitzgerald, Josh Fryfogle, Ann and Ray Lyon, Faye Palin, Niki Pease, Nan Potts, Randy Robinson, Hillary Saffran, Ed Smith, John Stroup, Carmen Summerfield, Candice Swain, and the Borealis Dancers—Georgie Hollander, Cindy Montgomery, JoAnn and Heather Pellitier, and Kayla Verne.
